Do you believe in ghosts? Would you if you saw a CNN news crew “attacked” by a spirit on video? Check this out:

This house in Pennsylvania might be the most haunted home in the country. The family who (bravely!) lives here say they’ve been haunted for years. Ghostly voices, shrieks and screams often cut through the night and even the family pets have been attacked by the spirits. Apparently, the spirits regard the house as theirs and don’t like their space invaded by these living “squatters.”

But it gets worse than just a few noises and some scratches on pets and people. Head to the basement and you’ll find it haunted by a demon. The family calls it “Shadow Man” and says it’s about seven feet tall!

I love a good scare, but I think a Thing like Shadow Man would chase me right out of the house! What do you think? Is the house haunted or is it a hoax?

Sleep well. I’ll see you next week,
Bobby

Tired of paying hundreds of dollars for cable TV? You’re not alone. People are deserting their cable companies in droves these days. And with good reason. Cable rates have been rising about 6% per year — four times the rate of inflation! — while content remains the mostly the same.

So a lot of viewers (like me) simply cut the cable cord, opting instead to stream content over the internet. On-demand services like Netflix and Hulu are growing by leaps and bounds but many people have been waiting for the day when they can stream their favorite programs online, live. The good news is: that day is here. The bad news? It’s pretty confusing.

There’s Sling TV, which offers channels like ESPN and HGTV. Then there’s a CBS app where you can get access to live TV and your favorite shows on-demand. HBO will start offering HBO Now in April (just in time for the return of Game of Thrones). Sony’s Playstation Vue promises lots of network content, but at a pretty hefty price — about the same as cable. And then there’s Apple, which, it is rumored, intends to take over TV completely.

So want to cut the cord but not sure what to do next? First, get yourself a good digital antenna for your TV. Second, do your research on all the services available and pick the one that offers more of the content you want to watch. Third, just do it. Call your cable company and cut the cord. You’ll never look back.

See you next week,

Actor Jim Parsons, aka socially awkward, super-physicist Sheldon Cooper on CBS’ hit series, "Big Bang Theory" got a star on the Hollywood walk of fame yesterday. That in itself isn’t unexpected news. But what he said about his character, the show and the people he works with, well, that kind of class is always an unexpected Thing in Hollywood.

"Why I’m specifically here today, the biggest reason is because I had the chance to play this incredible character that I neither created, nor write for, nor put into a series," Parsons said. "That credit goes to Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady and Steve Molaro. And the credit goes to the rest of the cast Johnny and Kaley, Simon, Kunal, Mayim, Melissa."

I’m happy to see the humble and deserving Parsons get his star on the Walk of Fame. I’m even happier that it looks like he — and the rest of the cast of "Big Bang Theory"— will be around for a long, long time.

See you next week,

Leonard Nimoy

A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP
~ Leonard Nimoy

That was Leonard Nimoy’s last tweet. He died last Friday, surrounded by family and friends.

“LLAP”, of course, stands for “Live long and prosper,” his character’s famous line from Star Trek.

Losing Mr. Spock was a crushing blow to trekkies all over the world. Millions flooded social media sites with tributes and memorials. Friends — famous and unknown — expressed their sadness and their undying love for the 83 year-old actor, writer, director and poet. I was one of those millions. But I don’t remember exactly what I said. What I do remember is what he said. I’ll always remember his last words to us, his fans.

In honor of Leonard Nimoy, let’s all recognize a “perfect moment” this week. But don’t try to hang onto it. Just remember it. Always.

Live long. And prosper,
Bobby
